How to play Odd One Out

  1. The grid fills with tiles that are all the same colour, except one.
  2. Tap the tile whose shade is slightly different.
  3. Each correct find grows the grid and shrinks the colour difference.
  4. The clock is always running, and a wrong tap costs you time.

Tips & strategy

  • Let your eyes go slightly out of focus. The odd tile tends to pop out of peripheral vision before you consciously find it.
  • Scan in rows rather than jumping around randomly โ€” it is faster and you will not re-check the same area twice.
  • Turn your screen brightness up. At high levels the difference is only a few percent of luminance.
  • If you truly cannot see it, tap anyway โ€” the small time penalty is cheaper than stalling.

Frequently asked questions

How far can the levels go?

The grid grows to a maximum of eight by eight, after which only the colour difference continues to shrink, so the ceiling is your eyesight rather than the board.

Is this a real colour vision test?

No. It is a game, not a diagnostic. If you suspect a colour vision deficiency, see an optician for a proper Ishihara test.

Does screen quality matter?

Yes, noticeably. An OLED or a well-calibrated display will show the later levels far more clearly than a dim laptop panel.
