How to play Nerdle

- Type a complete, true equation using digits and + − × ÷ = and press Enter.
- Green means the symbol is in the right spot, amber means it is in the equation but elsewhere, grey means it is absent.
- Work out the hidden equation within six guesses.

Tips & strategy
- Open with a guess that uses several different operators to learn which symbols are in play.
- Remember the equation must balance — once you know the result, the left side is heavily constrained.
- A symbol can appear more than once; amber only promises at least one is somewhere else.
- Every guess has to be a true equation, so use the feedback to narrow the arithmetic, not just the characters.
Frequently asked questions
How is Nerdle different from Wordle?
Instead of a five-letter word you are guessing a true equation, and each guess must itself be arithmetically correct rather than just a real word.
What counts as a valid guess?
A guess must fill every tile, contain one equals sign, use no leading zeros, and be a true calculation with the standard order of operations.
How is my score tracked?
Your record is the fewest guesses to solve, saved per equation length, alongside a running solve streak.
